CGC Website Designs is a website development company owned and operated by Cynthia Copenhagen with over 10 years of web site design and promotion experience in business and education. We are here to provide you with professional web design, development and promotion services.

The Beginning
It all began in 1993 at the Mendocino County Regional Occupation Program's (ROP) computer program, located in Mendocino, California. Mendocino is a rural Northern California coastal town, about 150 miles north of the Bay Area.

As a small, rural school district, the Mendocino Unified School District (MUSD) had the opportunity to receive grants for internet access, which not only connected the school district, but also the community at large, since the ROP Computer Lab caters to adults as well as K-12 students.

In 1993, having a school district connected to the internet, especially one as rural as Mendocino Unified School District, was a unique opportunity. It was a very exciting time, adding a new dimension to the computer lab.

First there was Gopher's text based internet browser, which was soon followed by the first Mozilla and Netscape browsers (with graphics!). As instructors, we were learning as we were creating assignments and teaching this information to our K-12 and adult students.

Mendocino's Community Computer Workshops
The next stage was the development of a workshop program for adults, called Community Computer Workshops (CCC). The workshops were designed for adults and offered in the evenings, during the week. They offered many computer based subjects ranging from Basic Computer Skills and Internet 101 to Spreadsheets, Word Processing, HTML, Web Site Design, and a few years later, Web Promotion and Search Engine Optimization.

The Next Steps
After a few years, the grant funding was completed, and in order to sustain the costs of the technology, the Mendocino Community Network, an ISP owned and operated by Mendocino Unified School District, was formed and is successfully up and running today.

Working at MCN was a lot of fun, and was a great way to keep up with internet and web technology, especially in the web development and promotion world. In 2000, it was time to take the next step and branch out. Fortunately, many wonderful contacts and past co-workers are still at Mendocino Community Network, and they are just down the road.

Today - Our Skills Evolving with Technology
At CGC Website Designs, we are a team of talented designers, programmers and promoters who enjoy the challenge of creating successful SEO friendly web sites. We have been teaching since 1993 and developing and promoting sites since 1997.
